Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Anthony Gates of San Gabriel, CA has created a bed design that aims to redefine comfort and sleep quality by adapting automatically to a sleeper’s unique body shape, weight, and position.
Anthony found inspiration in his early experiences. Growing up in Juneau, Alaska, he loved falling asleep in the nose of his family’s fiberglass cabin cruiser, where the gentle rocking and soothing waves created the perfect sleep environment.
In the 90s, Juneau’s tech-forward culture, boasting the highest internet connections per capita in the U.S., ignited Anthony’s passion for innovation. A pivotal moment occurred when he watched a video on telepresence technology, showcasing actuated risers remotely moving a ping pong ball. This sparked his imagination. Later, while working in parking control with computer-controlled gate arms, Anthony conceptualized the A.S.P. Adaptive Sleep Platform, a revolutionary design set to transform the future of sleep.
But how does it work? The A.S.P. features an advanced electronic system with continuously responding components that adapt to every aspect of a sleeper’s body, weight, and position. It proactively reduces the root causes of discomfort. Beyond enhancing comfort, its dynamic surface eliminates the risk of pressure injuries, offering a solution for long-term care and bed-ridden individuals. This translates to critical medical applications, crucial market differentiation, and enhanced consumer satisfaction.
